Composers in Play X: Plastic Dawn
The richly lyrical, super-talent of an oboist, Caitlin-Broms Jacobs, takes the Tenri stage with pianist/composer Adam Sherkin in a Neo-romantic program featuring expressive new works. Highlights of this recital include a fresh commission, “The Tender Scars of Memory” from award-winning composer, Harry Stafylakis, and a new set of six pieces, "Plastic Dawn," by Adam Sherkin. Also on the program: the US premiere of Kevin Lau's "In the Garden of Endless Sleep" and a dynamic work from 2012 by veteran Canadian composer, Alexina Louie, "Filigree." Alex Shapiro theatrical "Brat" and Joseph Schwantner's haunting "Black Anemones" round out the proceedings.
